Kuwala in Sudan

The Kuwala live in seven main villages in the remote Nuba Mountains in the state of South Kordofan, Sudan. They cultivate sorghum, corn, and beans, while also raising cattle, sheep, and goats. The Kuwala have two primary schools and a secondary school, but their villages are otherwise impoverished from decades of regional war. The Kuwala primarily speak Sudanese Arabic. Their religion is Sunni Islam, following the teachings of the Koran.

Ministry Obstacles
As folk Muslims, the Kuwala believe that Jesus is only a prophet, not the only way to salvation. They seek daily benefits from the spirit world, not understanding that it is God who can provide for all their needs.

Scripture Focus
"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."  Joshua 1:8

Scripture Prayer
Pray that many from this people group will not only study but apply what God teaches through His word.

Prayer Focus
Pray for a movement of the Holy Spirit to help the Kuwala believe in Jesus Christ. Pray for peace in the Kuwala homeland. Pray for an abundant blessing of Kuwala families and communities as they embrace Jesus Christ, the Lord of lords. Pray for spiritual openness to Jesus Christ, which false teachers cannot hinder.
