Gujar (Muslim traditions) in Pakistan

The Gujar, comprised of three very closely related groups, are collectively known as the "Gujar Rajasthani." As various Muslim groups began invading India and Pakistan in the eleventh century, the Gujar Hindus converted to Islam. As a result, their resentful Hindu neighbors began to rise up and take control of the area. The Gujar were forced to leave the region and search for good pastures elsewhere. Their wanderings took them into Pakistan and Afghanistan, where thousands have remained until this day. The partition of India and Pakistan in 1947 also led to many migrations. Masses of Muslims immigrated to Pakistan, while the Hindus flocked to India. There are both Hindu and Muslim Gujar in India today. This people group also resides in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and several states in northeastern India.

Ministry Obstacles
Muslims are usually very closed to the gospel for historical and theological reasons. Few Gujar hear about Christ the King of kings in their lifetimes.

Prayer Focus
Pray for hundreds to trust Jesus and deepen their relationships with Him, no matter what obstacles they encounter. Pray for God to bring about his purpose for the Muslim Gujar. Pray for Christians to have love, joy, peace, and patience as they tell others about the King of kings. Pray for a mighty Holy Spirit revival to permeate their families and churches, drawing them into greater love for God and for their neighbors.
