Banmanus in India
Traditionally, a Banmanus man can marry two sisters, or several brothers may share the same wife (although this is now only practiced in remote communities). The Kyerung are ethnic Tibetans and have been officially counted as part of the Tibetan nationality in China; however, they speak their own language, unintelligible to other Tibetan varieties. The Kyerung make up a significant portion of the Tibetans in Nepal.
Ministry Obstacles The Kyerung are willing to accept other people's beliefs. They have a greeting, Tashiteleg, which means "I recognize the divine qualities in you." This mindset leaves them open to belief in anything, without understanding firm spiritual truths.
Scripture Focus "I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 36:25-27
Scripture Prayer Pray for this people group to find spiritual cleansing in Jesus Christ.
Prayer Focus Ask God to raise up Kyerung who are more desirous to know the truth than to stay on the broad road they have been given.
Pray that their spiritual openness will give them the willingness to hear the gospel with their hearts.
Ask God to send loving, committed workers to the Kyerung soon.
Pray the Kyerung would no longer be hidden away from the influence of Christ.
