Chadar in India
CHAH-dar

The Chadar live mainly in Madhya Pradesh, India's most central state. Their name means “weaver.” They consider themselves to be descendants of the prestigious Rajput community. Traditionally, many of them were employed as village watchmen, while others were weavers. Educated Chadars have their own caste association known as the Chadar Kshatriya Samaj, which is intended to look after their interests and maintain law and order.

Ministry Obstacles
When there are few Christ followers in a people group, there is a powerful stigma attached to looking outside the majority religion for truth. Fortunately, there are some Chadar Christians, but they are few and far between.

Scripture Focus
"But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children,"  Psalm 103:17

Scripture Prayer
Pray that this people group will understand that they can enjoy the eternal love of the Lord.

Prayer Focus
Pray that biblical materials would soon become widely and easily available in Chadar communities. Pray they would open their hearts to the King of kings. Pray they would receive and understand gospel materials in the Hindi language. Ask God to give Chadar believers courage and strength to live for him in their communities and that their friends and families would see the difference in their lives.
