Dabarre in Somalia
The Dabarre are a Somali people group who only live in Somalia. Reaching them would have to be by direct means of contact and building relationships. They are unlikely to have any outside capacity to be reached by means such as social media. The Dabarre follow traditional Islamic practices and beliefs. One way this is clear is in marriage. A Dabarre man seeking to marry must obtain the consent of his parents and the girl's parents. If accepted, he pays a bride price to the girl's family to compensate for the loss of her earning power. If all goes well, there will be a wedding. Under Islamic law, a Dabarre man is allowed up to four wives. Each wife, however, occupies her own hut where she raises her children. Responsibility for family protection extends to a man's brothers and other family members. For example, if a wife is murdered, the extended family will resort to seeking blood vengeance.
Ministry Obstacles Somalia still has an ongoing civil war, especially in the southern and central regions, making the process of taking the gospel to them extremely difficult.
