Southern Barasano in Colombia
The Southern Barasano tribe in Colombia is desperately trying to protect their homeland and way of life. They face displacement and violence from logging interests by outsiders. The Southern Barasano social organization is complicated, based on clans and lineages. They make their living through fishing, hunting, and agriculture.
Ministry Obstacles The Southern Barasano have their own mythology, which is closely tied to their shamanistic religion. Their shamans perform rituals that involve psychoactive substances. There are no known Christians among the people. It is possible that Christianity is viewed as the religion of oppressors.
Scripture Focus "I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth." Psalm 34:1
Scripture Prayer May many from this people group praise Him at all times!
Prayer Focus Pray for faithful workers to go to the Southern Barasano who would display Christian love and share the gospel with them.
Pray that the Lord will prepare their hearts to receive him.
Pray for a great movement of the Southern Barasano to Christ.
