The Prathama Sakha are Brahman. Hinduism is their religion.

In Andhra Pradesh they speak, read and write in Telugu. They are vegetarians and eat rice. Marriage is by discussion and they prefer marriages between cousins. Divorce is not allowed. The dead are cremated except for children who are buried. On the death of the father, sons inherit the property. Most of them work in government service.

The Prathama Sakha in Karnataka speak, read and write in Kannada. Widowers and the bereaved can marry again. They have community associations. Boys and girls are educated. Family planning is used by them.
