The Tin Gaule are one of the Thakali peoples in Nepal. Traditionally they controlled the salt trade which made them one of the wealthier communities.
Tin Gaule Thakali people have their own traditional village assembly, elected headmen, village workers, mediators, and village law. They are divided into four clans, or lineages. All family heads gather once every third year at the main meeting of the village assembly and establish ground rules for the village. They work in agriculture and commerce.
Tin Gaule Thakali people in Nepal people Buddhism, a religion that teaches that they must follow many rules and laws to achieve nirvana or a state of freedom and salvation. They also practice Hinduism, an ancient religion of India. Hinduism is a catch-all phrase for the local religions of South Asia, so it is diverse. At the popular level Hindus worship and serve the gods of the Hindu pantheon. They do not have a personal or familial relationship with their gods like Christians or Jews.
Although audio Bible resources exist in Thakali, the primary language of this people group, they also speak Nepali which has a full range of resources. Someone is needed to take these important resources to Tin Gaule Thakali people.
The body of Christ is growing in Nepal. Pray that Nepali believers will be made aware of the Tin Gaule Thakali tribe and will take steps to carry the good news of Jesus to them. Pray this Buddhist/Hindu group will be set free to find life abundantly in Christ. Pray that Tin Gaule Thakali people will understand the good news of the gospel, families will be transformed, and churches planted among them. Pray for a movement to Christ among the Tin Gaule Thakali people of Nepal.
