Raysipotra comes from Raysojee people who part of the Dal Muslim community. They are a small people group of only several hundred desert people.

This Muslim people group lives in northern Gujarat. There might be some who live in neighboring Pakistan, specifically the Sindh Province.

Their only possible lifestyle is pastoral, because their climate is dry and hot. They are cattle breeders, and they take their cattle to bazaars to sell. They also raise goats and buffaloes. Many have gone to other parts of India in search of jobs.
They marry within their community, usually with cousins.

The Raysipotra people are Sunni, the largest branch of Islam. Living in South Asia, their form of Islam is not orthodox. The Hindu mindset affects them along with the felt need to depend on charms and amulets to protect them. To them, Allah is too distant to protect them, though he is the one who determines everyone's eternal destination.

Although audio, visual, and written Bible resources are available in Gujarati, their spoken language, they remain unreached and unengaged with the truth of the gospel. Their greatest need is to understand the infinite love of Almighty God for them, and His provisional payment of the penalty for their sins. They need spiritual freedom given only by the Son who can make them "free indeed."

Pray that a strong movement of the Holy Spirit will bring entire Raysipotra families into a rich experience of God's blessing.
Pray for Raysipotra families to be drawn by the Holy Spirit to seek forgiveness, and to understand the adequacy of Christ's work on the cross.
