The Neo Buddhist or Nav Buddhist are a scheduled caste who converted from Hinduism to Buddhism in the latter half of the 20th century. Many live in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and in other states as well.
Agriculture is their main work. Many of them do shoe making and leather work for a living. They are not vegetarians. They have cousin marriages. They don’t allow for divorce. The bereaved can marry again. Children inherit equal amounts of property when the father dies. The Buddhist Sangam settles disputes among them.
They celebrate Buddhist festivals. They have a naming ceremony for children that is performed by Buddhist monks. There are marriage rituals and the dead are cremated or buried.
This people group needs to put their trust in Jesus Christ, the one who came to provide life to the full for all who call on His name.
* Scripture Prayers for the Nau Buddh in India.
* Pray for an unstoppable movement to Christ this decade. * Pray that they will realize only Jesus Christ offers life to the full. * Pray for the Father to thrust out workers and intercessors for these Buddhists.
