Introduction / History

The Apapanthi Hindu sect started as a reform movement in the 19th century. It was founded by Swami Dayananda Saraswati, a Hindu reformer. Most live in India’s northern states.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Members of the small Apapanthi sect spend their time studying the Vedas, meditating and praying. It is a regular part of their lives.

They are social reformers who advocate for the rights of women and low caste individuals. They also debate with one another regarding the nature and future of Hinduism.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Apapanthi Hindu sect emphasizes the centrality of the four Vedas, the Hindu holy books. They wish to return to the original teachings of the Hindu religion and reject newer practices that they believe represent corruption. They question the caste system and the inequality that comes with it.

What Are Their Needs?

The Apapanthi people need to put their trust and identity in the hands of the loving God of creation who sent his son to make it possible for them to enter the Kingdom of God.

Prayer Points

Pray for a "Book of Acts" type of movement to Christ among the Apapanthi.

Pray God will have mercy on the Apapanthi, doing whatever it takes to place them in a position to receive him.

Ask God to open the hearts of the Apapanthi to the gospel.

Pray for an unstoppable movement to Christ among them.
