The Kreda of western Chad have been livestock herders for hundreds of years. They speak Dazaga. Bible portions are available in Dazaga. Many of the Kreda can also speak Arabic.
The Kreda have challenging lives trying to find water and grazing for their herds of camels, goats, sheep and donkeys. Droughts are common in the Sahel region south of the Sahara Desert. Women and girls must walk to wells to get water for their families. The Kreda live in portable tents and must carry their few possessions. If their animals die, the Kreda face starvation and have no other means of making a living.
Kreda people are Sunni Muslims who perform the rituals of Islam. Along with dedication to Allah, most also believe in local spirits that purportedly control their lives.
Being a Muslim is central to the Kreda's personal identity. If a Kreda person becomes a follower of Christ, he or she will be shunned by the community. Therefore, few are open to spiritual change.
They need people who are willing to live without creature comforts to reach them for the Kingdom of God. One must consider that hundreds of years ago, someone took Islam to them. Since that time they have managed to practice Islam. Potentially, Christians with abilities in veterinarian medicine or water management can help them. That would give them a platform to share the grace of Jesus.
Ask the Lord to send loving workers with special skills to share the gospel message with the Kreda.
Pray for the Kreda to hunger for the truth of Christ.
Pray for the success of mission efforts to reach the Kreda.
Pray for Africa Christians to adopt the Kredas for regular prayer and outreach.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to give the Kreda such spiritual hunger that they will embrace Christ no matter what the cost.
