Where Are they Located?
The Sikligar Hindu of India live in Gujarat and also in Haryana.
What Are Their Lives Like?
The Sikligar have been weapon polishers by tradition and the word Saiqai which is related to their name means a polisher. They are nomads and can be found living near the towns. Their nomadic lifestyle could be an obstacle to the gospel message. The Sikligar say they were Rajputs. They speak Gujarati and marry within their group. They have clans.
The Sikligar who live in Gujarat sharpen things such as knives and agricultural tools. They use child labor and have financial problems.
The Sikligar in Haryana speak Haryanvi. They live in Hissar, Rohtak and other regions. They live near to the towns and many of them live in huts. The main work they do is metal polishing. They also make spades and iron baskets for example. A few are farmers who breed poultry and cattle.
The Sikligar speak Hindi with those who are not in their community and they read and write in Devanagari. They love milk and dairy products too.
What Are Their Beliefs?
They follow Hinduism in Gujarat while in Haryana there are also Sikhs.
* Pray that financial hardships will lead the Sikligar to Jesus Christ and that they will stop using child labor.
* Pray that the Bible, the Jesus Film and gospel recordings will help to lead them to Salvation.
